Rotational molding

Polymer rotational molding (also called: rotomolding, rotational moulding) is a process for creating hollow custom plastic products (with different functionality, dimensions, shape, color, weight, texture etc.). With rotational molding technology we assure completion of projects with the serial production of plastic products in the range of 100 to 10,000 pieces.

Check out some examples of custom plastic products made with rotational molding technology!

Main advantages of rotational molding:
- The use of conventional materials (LDPE, HDPE, PP.)
- Large dimensions (from 1.50 to 120.00 kg)
- Molds development costs are also acceptable for small batches of products
- Full implementation - from design to mass production - in one place

Rotationally molded plastic products have improved shock resistance and wearing out compared to other technologies for plastics. They are suitable for various branches, such as construction, industry, agriculture, aquaculture and others.

ROTATIONAL MOLDING - MATERIALS

The rotational molding technology uses predominantly polyethylene- and polypropylene-based materials. Depending on the requirements for the end product and its use, we determine the most suitable version of material as early as in the product's development phase.

Key properties of the material:
  • Density in g/litre
  • Strength and toughness
  • UV durability
  • Chemical resistance

Materials come in different colors and have different color effects, such as:
  • Photo-luminescence
  • Imitation of rock (marble, granite, terracotta, etc.)
  • Imitation of metals (aluminum, inox, copper, gold, etc.)
  • Varnishing (high-gloss, matt varnished surface, pastel varnishes, etc.)

MOLD SURFACES, TEXTURES AND ENGRAVINGS

The surface texture of the end product is determined by surface processing in the aluminum tool. Surface processing includes the following textures:
  • Glossy smooth surface
  • Finely sanded surface
  • Coarsely sanded surface
  • CNC label engraving

For more information, see CNC MOLD MAKING section.

ROTATIONAL MOLDING EMBEDDED ELEMENTS

Individual products require embedding of attachment and reinforcement elements. As part of rotational molding technology, we use direct molding of metallic elements into the structural material of the end product.

Examples of embedded elements:
  • Threaded inserts from M4 to M32
  • Transitional bushes
  • Reinforcement beams
  • Reinforcement bushes for service openings
